Despite everything being put on halt, spring is still in full force and we’re bound to be getting some rainfall in the next few weeks. Even though I’m, as I’m sure you are, practicing social distancing, that doesn’t mean we can’t get outside for a walk or do a quick trip to the grocery store for essentials. With that being said, if you’re looking for new pieces to wear in the spring weather, I’ve got you covered.
Tory Burch’s collections are always something I look forward to every season. The classic, chic, and colorful pieces that are released are always wonderful and can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe.
Autumn de Wilde’s new film and adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma takes place in a dream pastel Georgian dollhouse that is so feminine chic. The set decorator Stella Fox, and production designer Kave Quinn, along with their teams created the most awe-inspiring 19th century, Georgian period world. When I saw the interiors of the Firle Estate after they went in and added some bright playful paint, printed wallpaper, and decor my jaw dropped.
I love a good suit, whether it be for a job interview or a day of class. Nothing feels better then putting on a suit in the morning and feeling beautiful and powerful to take on the day.
Easter is right around the corner, and although we may not be able to get together with friends and family outside of our household, it’s still good to celebrate if that’s what you normally do. Keeping traditions semi alive during a pandemic is important because it gives you something to look forward to, as I know for many of us these circumstances have cancelled quite a few plans.
With March here and how the weather has been playing out it seems as though we will most definitely be getting an early spring. I took a jaunt through Central Park last weekend and even noticed some of the trees starting to bud, and I even spotted a cherry blossom tree near Washington Square Park last Sunday. I know it’s so cliché, but I really do feel my best when wearing floral pieces. The print makes me feel put together and beautiful, the two things I look for when purchasing any piece. So as any lover of florals is doing right now, I’m dreaming of florals for my wardrobe.
It all started after I began watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix. The costume designer, Allyson Fanger, does such a wonderful job with the wardrobe in this show. I love every characters’ unique style, and I’m especially fond of when Grace wears dress shirts or shirt dresses and pops the collar. It’s such a simple detail, but it goes such a long way. Now whenever I wear a shirt with a collar I catch myself popping it. You look sharper and chic.
The first weekend of March called for a trip uptown this past Saturday. I had a wonderful day and stopped by Ralph’s Coffee to start. I’ve said it many times before but I’ll say it again, this store is a dream. The last time I visited was during the holidays and then for the first time in late September, and they’ve changed the displays since then. The downstairs is so well crafted into an old Hollywood, yet still so very Ralph Lauren, vibe.
Since the weather has been so lovely this past week in the city I can’t help but be in full on spring mode. I’ve been dressing springy all week, and I just received my Jeffree Star x Shane Dawson Conspiracy Palette and I’ve been using super fun colors for eyeshadow. Below I’m wearing shade What’s the Tea. I’ve also seen a shift in my mood this week due to the weather being so nice. It’s crazy what some sun and 50 degree weather can do to you.
Last Saturday I went to Soho to try and catch some new art galleries, shopping, and of course, cupcakes. Since I officially have Spring on my mind I opted for a bright outfit, even though it definitely didn’t feel like Spring with the wind!
Alas, it’s the last weekend of February! As I’m sure everyone usually feels, January and February can be very long, dragged out months because of the weather. But, it almost feels like we’ve been having an early spring. Although I do wear color year round, Spring is the time for pastels and when I can finally break out my floral frocks after being locked away since August.
This midi dress is one of my favorites in my closet. Not only is this length flattering and perfect to feel comfortable in, I love the length of the sleeves as well. The neckline hits right at the perfect point on my neck, and the matching printed belt is a plus. It’s not attached to the dress, so you can wear it with other pieces in your closet as well! I absolutely love all the color this dress has, it makes so fun to accessorize!
My first six months of living in New York City were fabulous. I’m home for the summer, and I’m already missing the big city. I love being able to get up in the morning, put on a great outfit, walk out the door and just explore. Whether it’s dining at Sarabeth’s for brunch, reading in Central Park, or shopping in Soho, the city makes me so happy to even just walk around in. I love being surrounded by so many different and unique people. It inspires me to be better, and shouldn’t we all put ourselves in an environment that does this? I can’t wait to be back, and especially experience my first fall there. Fall is my favorite season, and it gets me all excited just thinking about being there for it.
When the summer months come around I always tend to gravitate towards blues. Not just in my wardrobe, but in my makeup lately as well. I tried out the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara in cobalt blue just last week and have been obsessed with it ever since. I rarely ever experiment with makeup, but I’ve been loving doing the blue mascara with an aqua eyeliner lately to add some fun to my makeup look.
I love to take a classic blazer that would normally be worn with suit pants and style it with dresses. I’m especially loving throwing on a blazer and wrapping a belt around my waist and wearing it like that. It’s a fun and different twist to the classic look.
Don’t get me wrong I love a classic toe-toned shoe, but what I really love in a shoe is it’s creativeness. Shoes can do wonders for an outfit, but they can also make or break one. They are the most important part of an outfit.
Like any other season, I love to accessorize. Once spring is in full swing I love to look at my wardrobe and pair jewelry and hair accessories, along with shoes with unexpected prints and textures. Fashion is all about having fun and experimenting with different styles and mixing and matching.
I was looking to go for a more neutral toned look, and as I was rummaging through my clothes when I found this kimono and nude dress that looked really lovely together. I love when this happens, as I’m going through my clothes I find things next to each other that I end up loving worn together. If you’re an avid shopper like me, you know how easy it can be to forget about pieces in your closet because after you wear them a few times they get thrown to the back of the closet. I’m trying to get better at this, but we all do it!
Spring has officially arrived here in New York City, and I couldn’t be happier. I love walking and going to the park, and now that the weather is nice I can finally go out enjoy the city. With the spring weather I see even New Yorkers start to bring out pops of color, although for me you know every season I wear just about every color of the rainbow.
