Back to a time where neutrals weren’t a thing, and having big hair was IT. Cue Lady Gaga’s new single Stupid Love, or The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. The new songs are giving me 80s feels, and quite frankly so is the fashion world. Sparkle day wear, monochrome suiting, and over the top ruffles are all that’s on my mind right now.
Alas, it’s the last weekend of February! As I’m sure everyone usually feels, January and February can be very long, dragged out months because of the weather. But, it almost feels like we’ve been having an early spring. Although I do wear color year round, Spring is the time for pastels and when I can finally break out my floral frocks after being locked away since August.
The greatest thing about New York City is without even a plan, you can head out for the day and stroll through a neighborhood and find so many cool things to do. I love walking around the city on the weekends, even if it’s only for a few hours! This past Saturday my friend and I set out for Soho and we found the coolest art gallery.
The Oscars are finally here! I have quite a list here of best and worst dressed. Best dressed of the night goes to Sandra Oh. That gown is absolutely stunning, and she looks so great in it. Worst dressed goes to Billy Porter. I loved his Grammys look, but this look just didn’t do it for me. Natalie Portman’s look was ethereal, and Margot Robbie’s look again didn’t wow me. Kelly Ripa’s black gown was so stunning and probably one of my favorite all black gowns ever.
The theme of last night’s 2020 BAFTA Awards was sustainability. The Duchess of Cambridge re-wore a beautiful white with gold detailing gown by Alexander McQueen that she last wore in 2012. Saoirse Ronan wore a Gucci gown made out of recycled materials. There was lots of pink on the red carpet last night as well, which of course I loved.
Although I do wear pink and red all year-round, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of year to bring out all your pink and red and mix and match. Not only is it fun to wear the colors through clothes, accessories are sometimes the best part. Heart shaped purses, pink and red socks, and hot pink faux fur are on the menu.
The Grammys are here! As for the other red carpets of the season they are more “reserved” as you could say with how the guests dress compared to the Grammys where they are a bit daring. Ariana Grande WINS best dressed to me, I mean c’mon, she’s wearing Giambattista Valli. Billy Porter is always taking on red carpets as a new challenge to beat his last, and his look this time around is off the charts. I was disappointed with looks from a few like Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sophie Turner, and we’ll see more worst dressed below.
As January is coming to a close and February is on the horizon, I start to go through my winter wardrobe and put away my red and navy plaids, and dig into my spring/summer pieces and grab a few that are perfect for transitioning from February to March. Especially with blouses I find that quite a few of my spring/summer ones I can style in a way that makes them appropriate to wear even in mid-winter.
After taking a look at the SAG Awards red carpet and comparing it to the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice, my favorite red carpet so far is Golden Globes. Hopefully the Oscars’ red carpet will hit it off like I expect it too (high, high hopes.) This years SAG Awards red carpet was alright. Once again we have Reese Witherspoon looking stunning and classy as always, and Margaret Qualley’s look this time around impressed me far more than her other red carpet looks this season. A vibrant orange Valentino gown was seen on Kathryn Newton, and Scott Evans’ suit is my favorite one so far this year.
As some of you may know, pink is my all-time favorite color. I have curated a list of all the pink pieces I’m loving right now below!
Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? Definitely not me. Wearing whites in the winter be it an all-white ensemble or a pair of white jeans or nice blouse can look so le chic. When it hits mid-January I always love to brighten things up in my looks with the use of light colors and white.
I am always the person when shopping to enter a store fully knowing I need a classic, staple item, and I always leave without that but with a crazy new colored faux fur, or an item I know I don’t NEED, but that I LOVE. I’ve been getting better about this, as I’m getting older I realize the importance of a staple item that when I put on although it may not be over the top, it makes anyone look classy and put together.
The first episode of the Bachelor season 24 has officially premiered and there were quite a few stunning looks. I can’t wait to see how this season unfolds and I already have a few favorites myself. Here is my best dressed list for the season 24 premiere!
Here’s to awards season and new red carpet looks. I do have to say, this years 2020 Golden Globes red carpet didn’t impress me too much, and there are some great looks but there are some not so great ones that we’ll take a look at below. All to remember that this is fashion-based judgement and not anything personal. I can’t wait to see more red carpet looks in the coming weeks and hopefully they will get better!
A period of divinity, exquisite dressing, and splendor partying through the duration of the 1920s and has left a mark on many of us one hundred years later. The younger people of the time pushed the limits outside of Victorian thinking and dived into the lifestyle of the decadent. Women were finally able to vote and were nudging themselves into the workforce, and most of all, they were testing the way women were “supposed” to dress with shorter hemlines and très chic bobbed hairstyles. Women were feeling empowered and society was booming.
As February comes to a close and March is around the corner, I start to want to wear my spring wardrobe. Like everyone, I’m getting bored of my winter wardrobe and want to start bringing more florals into my everyday looks. Since it’s a little early to start wearing lighter florals, I’m leaning towards dark florals to get me through these next few weeks. Keep on Reading!
The winter time can be rough, especially if you live in a place where the weather is constantly changing. But aside from those random 50 degree days, it can get very cold. Since I’m walking much more outside in the cold since I’m in NYC, I’ve come to figure out the accessories I can’t live without in the winter to keep me warm, but still chic. Keep on Reading!
When Pantone announced that the color of 2019 is living coral, I was very excited. I don’t think I have anything in my closet that’s coral, and I think that’s due to the fact that I don’t come across coral pieces very often. Now that Pantone has announced that it’s the color of the year, I’ve seen celebrities, and even the Queen of England wearing the color, which has inspired me to add it to my closet. Keep on Reading!
