Back to a time where neutrals weren’t a thing, and having big hair was IT. Cue Lady Gaga’s new single Stupid Love, or The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. The new songs are giving me 80s feels, and quite frankly so is the fashion world. Sparkle day wear, monochrome suiting, and over the top ruffles are all that’s on my mind right now.
Alas, it’s the last weekend of February! As I’m sure everyone usually feels, January and February can be very long, dragged out months because of the weather. But, it almost feels like we’ve been having an early spring. Although I do wear color year round, Spring is the time for pastels and when I can finally break out my floral frocks after being locked away since August.
It’s no surprise that I love flowers, and with March right around the corner I’ve been waiting for they city to start showing early signs of Spring. This past weekend in the West Village I came across so many flowers and I was so happy.
This Michael Kors coat that I’ve had for years has been a long favorite of mine. Every winter season I get so excited to break it out, and now that I have added a new hot pink one this year as well, I secretly don’t want coat weather to go away just yet.
The greatest thing about New York City is without even a plan, you can head out for the day and stroll through a neighborhood and find so many cool things to do. I love walking around the city on the weekends, even if it’s only for a few hours! This past Saturday my friend and I set out for Soho and we found the coolest art gallery.
I’ve lived in New York City for a year now and I’ve only been to The Met one time, which was for the Camp exhibition. I guess it’s because I find it’s always packed with tourists, so I’ve found so many other non-touristy things to do. BUT, last Saturday I visited because I wanted to see the new fashion exhibit “In Pursuit of Fashion, The Sandy Schreier Collection.” It was so lovely and I especially loved the pieces from the ’20s and the green and orange dress featured below with orange flowers on the sleeves. I decided to explore some of the paintings in the museum. It can make me feel so overwhelmed since there is so much to see, but I definitely want to go back and visit a new area!
I love a high sock and heel moment. First, I absolutely love these shoes. I first discovered the John Fluevog brand when as I was strolling through Soho one Saturday afternoon with my friends. The interior of the store, along with the set up of the funky shoes, immediately caught my attention and I had to go inside. I fell in love with the pair I’m wearing, and my mom gifted them to me for Christmas. I can never find shoes that fit my feet perfectly, I’m either slipping out of them or they are way too tight, and I was so happy when these shoes fit perfectly!
Although I do wear pink and red all year-round, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of year to bring out all your pink and red and mix and match. Not only is it fun to wear the colors through clothes, accessories are sometimes the best part. Heart shaped purses, pink and red socks, and hot pink faux fur are on the menu.
As January is coming to a close and February is on the horizon, I start to go through my winter wardrobe and put away my red and navy plaids, and dig into my spring/summer pieces and grab a few that are perfect for transitioning from February to March. Especially with blouses I find that quite a few of my spring/summer ones I can style in a way that makes them appropriate to wear even in mid-winter.
As some of you may know, pink is my all-time favorite color. I have curated a list of all the pink pieces I’m loving right now below!
Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day? Definitely not me. Wearing whites in the winter be it an all-white ensemble or a pair of white jeans or nice blouse can look so le chic. When it hits mid-January I always love to brighten things up in my looks with the use of light colors and white.
I am always the person when shopping to enter a store fully knowing I need a classic, staple item, and I always leave without that but with a crazy new colored faux fur, or an item I know I don’t NEED, but that I LOVE. I’ve been getting better about this, as I’m getting older I realize the importance of a staple item that when I put on although it may not be over the top, it makes anyone look classy and put together.
A period of divinity, exquisite dressing, and splendor partying through the duration of the 1920s and has left a mark on many of us one hundred years later. The younger people of the time pushed the limits outside of Victorian thinking and dived into the lifestyle of the decadent. Women were finally able to vote and were nudging themselves into the workforce, and most of all, they were testing the way women were “supposed” to dress with shorter hemlines and très chic bobbed hairstyles. Women were feeling empowered and society was booming.
Want to be best dressed at your New Years Eve plans? Wearing sparkles will get you somewhere, but not everywhere, as it is something everyone you know will be walking down the streets in. But don’t fret, I’ve curated the best of the best pieces below that’ll take your outfit to the next level.
Christmas has finally arrived here in Manhattan, and Greenwich Village is decked out. The military coat I’m wearing is from Zara last year, and I absolutely love it. Now every year I look forward to taking it out during the holidays because I think it’s the epitome of a Christmas coat! My Meme gave me this headband and I absolutely love it for winter in the city.
There’s no denying that Princess Diana is one of the greatest style icons. Her looks were always so glamorous and chic, and they spoke volumes. She was always dressed appropriately and dressed to the nines. I wouldn’t mind if her hat collection just magically appeared in my closet over night. Keep on Reading!
As February comes to a close and March is around the corner, I start to want to wear my spring wardrobe. Like everyone, I’m getting bored of my winter wardrobe and want to start bringing more florals into my everyday looks. Since it’s a little early to start wearing lighter florals, I’m leaning towards dark florals to get me through these next few weeks. Keep on Reading!
Since forever I’ve been looking for my go-to accessory, and finally this year I think I’ve found it. We all struggle with bad hair days or days when the wind completely messes with it. Now, I’ve been collecting scarves to wrap around my hair which immediately makes me look chic and classic. I’ve seen this look on all my favorite style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, and Grace Kelly. I wore a head scarf in this look as well. Keep on Reading!
The winter time can be rough, especially if you live in a place where the weather is constantly changing. But aside from those random 50 degree days, it can get very cold. Since I’m walking much more outside in the cold since I’m in NYC, I’ve come to figure out the accessories I can’t live without in the winter to keep me warm, but still chic. Keep on Reading!
