Over the past year I’ve seen tremendous growth overall in people being more aware of the Earth and using reusable products. States and countries are banning plastic bags and straws, which is a huge step. I came back from New York City to see my hometown had banned plastic bags, and now at every store they give out paper bags or have reusable bag options. Another thing I’ve seen more and more people doing is shopping second hand clothing and accessories. Now, I can’t deny that I used to be so iffy and “a little” grossed out about buying second hand clothing online from people I don’t know, or going into a thrift store and purchasing something.
The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is currently going until June 2nd, and there are so many good deals on amazing pieces that I had to do a post to round them all up for you. From my favorite Nordstrom brand Halogen, to brands like Tory Burch, J.Crew, Diane von Furstenberg, and Kate Spade, this sale has anything and everything. There are also some crazy good deals on Versace, Prada, Miu Miu, Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo shoes and more!! Ladies if you want those designer heels, I’d check out this sale because your favorites may just be included!
I’m always on the hunt for new shops and designers to buy from, and with Instagram being a huge place where you can find tons of new designers daily, I take advantage of this. I recently came across Alice McCall’s Resort 2020 collection, and completely fell in love.
As Memorial Day is approaching, I can’t help but think about poolside fashion and what’s on my wishlist for this season. When May starts to come to a close, and the summer season is so close we can feel it(hopefully, I’m talking to you Mother Nature), pools start to open and it’s time to start picking out your favorite coverups, sunglasses, hats, and more to stay chic.
Although Louis Vuitton didn’t have the best dressed celebrities at this years Met Gala; a few to name are Emma Stone, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, and Laura Harrier. But, their Resort 2020 collection that debuted last week was great.
This past Friday Virginie Viard debuted her first solo collection for Chanel after Karl Lagerfeld’s passing in February. The Resort 2020 show had a classic Chanel feel, but I can definitely see the change that Virginie Viard is putting into action at Chanel, but change isn’t always a bad thing!
Last nights Met Gala was anything but boring, from tulle to heads and chandeliers, I’m very happy with the turnout of celebrities in actual “camp” like fashion. I normally see a sea of basic dresses that aren’t related to the theme whatsoever, but these year proved us all wrong. Of course there are still attendees that didn’t have their best dressed moment, but they were some outfits that I just can’t get enough of.
The Met Gala is the most extravagant event on the fashion calendar every year. To get invited to this event is a huge honor, and quite hard. But, once you are invited to the event it doesn’t stop there. What you wear to the Met Gala is the most important, because if it’s magnificent you’ll be the talk of the year, and we can say the same if you’re not. Every year there tends to be a few that gravitate towards the mermaid skin tight dresses, but we can’t focus on the negative when we have guests showing up in extravagant gowns and headpieces. The guests that dress to the theme truly take the event to another level, and I enjoy looking at the outfits every year.
I love to take a classic blazer that would normally be worn with suit pants and style it with dresses. I’m especially loving throwing on a blazer and wrapping a belt around my waist and wearing it like that. It’s a fun and different twist to the classic look.
Don’t get me wrong I love a classic toe-toned shoe, but what I really love in a shoe is it’s creativeness. Shoes can do wonders for an outfit, but they can also make or break one. They are the most important part of an outfit.
Like any other season, I love to accessorize. Once spring is in full swing I love to look at my wardrobe and pair jewelry and hair accessories, along with shoes with unexpected prints and textures. Fashion is all about having fun and experimenting with different styles and mixing and matching.
I was looking to go for a more neutral toned look, and as I was rummaging through my clothes when I found this kimono and nude dress that looked really lovely together. I love when this happens, as I’m going through my clothes I find things next to each other that I end up loving worn together. If you’re an avid shopper like me, you know how easy it can be to forget about pieces in your closet because after you wear them a few times they get thrown to the back of the closet. I’m trying to get better at this, but we all do it!
Spring is for pretty dresses. Whether it be for a special occasion like a graduation or family gathering, or for brunch and exploring the city, a pretty lace dress is your spring go-to.
Spring has officially arrived here in New York City, and I couldn’t be happier. I love walking and going to the park, and now that the weather is nice I can finally go out enjoy the city. With the spring weather I see even New Yorkers start to bring out pops of color, although for me you know every season I wear just about every color of the rainbow.
Searching endlessly online and in stores for classic, girly, feminine dresses and have constantly be let down when I can’t find any, or find pieces but they have a pricey tag on them. About a year ago, Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam quite literally came to the rescue and saved all of us girls. Keep on Reading!
I discovered Alessandra Rich just a few weeks ago on one of my intense pinning sessions. Goodness, once you go down the Pinterest rabbit hole there is no returning. Whilst pinning away I came across a photo of a model wearing one of the SS19 looks; it was the one with the model close up, in a yellow floral dress with matching belt, with lovely gloves on(that now made me realize I absolutely need a pair). She was accessorized in over sized pearls(um, YES please!) and an oversized headband. In that moment, I was hooked. Keep on Reading!
Spring is slowly arriving in the city with flowers sprouting here and there in the parks and in flower pots. Although the weather goes back in forth from above fifty to below, I’ve been bringing out my spring pieces and experimenting with layering to make them more practical for cooler weather. If you haven’t been through it you are inevitably are going to, and if you have you know the struggle and have very well learned your lesson. Now matter the size of the heel or wedge, not matter the price of the heel or wedge,
Always carry around a pair of flats when walking in heels in the city. Keep on Reading!
As I wear dresses almost everyday, I have quite a collection of minis and midis, but one of my all-time favorites to wear in the spring/summer are maxi dresses. I think they are so flattering and can be easily transitioned from day to night. Maxi’s with slits are super cute and it allows for you to breathe in the dress, but also show off your pretty shoes as well. They are a classic, beautiful piece to wear for any occasion. I’ve boughten from Gal Meets Glam ever since they first launched in April of last year. They have the best dresses for the girls that love classy, feminine dresses that are vintage with a modern touch. This dress from the March launch is perfect for spring and summer. Keep on Reading!
