When I’m looking for an accessory and can’t find it at a retail store, I immediately go and search for it on Amazon. Amazon has every accessory I’ve ever been searching the internet for. I’ve found my lace gloves, fascinators, and headbands all on the app for insanely good prices. Sometimes the piece I’m looking for just isn’t being sold in retail, and Amazon has never let me down in finding it.
This Spring my friend and I were going to head into Central Park and have a picnic, but with COVID-19 our plans haven been postponed a year. But, even since we’re all in quarantine this doesn’t mean we can’t have our own picnics with our family or whomever we are spending this time with.
Blue and white are signature colors for the summer. With May finally here I know that summer doesn’t officially start for a little bit over month, but there’s always a shift in my closest during this time. Blue and white pieces are a feast for my eyes and a pair that I adore to bring out in May. The two colors are so pretty together and I’ve found so many pieces I love that I’m sharing below.
If there’s a color that I want to get up and wear in the morning currently, it’s fuchsia. The purple-red color is a perfect vivid hue that brightens my day and leaves me motivated and inspired, and that’s exactly what I need. It’s a color that you can wear any season when styled correctly, which is perfect if you’re trying to buy less.
When the weather starts to get warmer and the sun’s out for longer it makes me feel excited to get out of bed in the morning and start my day. Maybe it’s because of the temperatures rising, but I can’t justify sitting around the house wearing loungewear even if I’m not leaving. Since we’re all in quarantine I thought this would be the perfect time to share linen pieces that are great for the warmer weather, even if you’re not leaving the house.
There’s no denying that tennis is the chicest sport. Magazines often do fashion tennis editorials that are absolutely fabulous and make you want to get out on the court and look just as good. Looking for a physical activity where you can also have fun fashionably? I think you’ve found it.
Orange is a color that I normally associate with late summer, like the sunset, and autumn, like the leaves. It’s not a hue that I would think to wear in the spring. But, I’ve been seeing lots of the color over on my Pinterest that’s making me inspired to wear it now.
Sometimes I wonder how much my phone is really listening to me, and when I got an ad on Instagram for the brand Andreeva I was freaked out, but in a good way. I just got over telling my mom how I’ve been looking for a coat that has feather cuffs or is hemmed with them, and nevertheless Instagram answered with a beautiful mint and orange jacquard coat with feather cuffs.
Hats are my most favored accessory. They not only hide a bad hair day, they elevate any look. A chic wool beret in the winter, or a vintage inspired straw hat in the summer, I can’t help myself in adding new ones to my collection every season.
I love wearing gingham in the springtime. In a classic blue or red hue, or in yellows and pinks, it’s a playful pattern everyone needs in their wardrobe. Featured on headbands and a teal smocked blouse, and even on a sparkly top. I also believe that a pair of black gingham pants are a staple and must have for an easy, yet stylish look for when you’re running out the door.
I came across Lirika Matoshi a few years ago on Instagram and immediately became obsessed with the designs. Lirika is from Kosovo and launched her first collection at 20 years old, wow! Her playful, sparkly, and romantic take make her pieces stand outs for your wardrobe. From accessories, to crystal embellished socks, to dresses and more, Lirika Matoshi is a wonderful brand to have on your radar.
Cardigans and sweaters are great lightweight layers to style spring pieces when the weather is still a bit cool. I find myself wearing sweaters over my shoulders or tied around my neck loosely to create an effortless look. Most of my spring and summer dresses are shorter sleeved, so cardigans and sweaters make for the perfect additional layer.
Although we will all be staying in the Easter, that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate as we always do. In fact, during these times of uncertainty it’s better to keep tradition then to stray away if possible. A beautiful tablescape can instantly lift my mood and they can be a fun way to spend some time diy-ing.
Despite everything being put on halt, spring is still in full force and we’re bound to be getting some rainfall in the next few weeks. Even though I’m, as I’m sure you are, practicing social distancing, that doesn’t mean we can’t get outside for a walk or do a quick trip to the grocery store for essentials. With that being said, if you’re looking for new pieces to wear in the spring weather, I’ve got you covered.
Tory Burch’s collections are always something I look forward to every season. The classic, chic, and colorful pieces that are released are always wonderful and can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe.
Autumn de Wilde’s new film and adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma takes place in a dream pastel Georgian dollhouse that is so feminine chic. The set decorator Stella Fox, and production designer Kave Quinn, along with their teams created the most awe-inspiring 19th century, Georgian period world. When I saw the interiors of the Firle Estate after they went in and added some bright playful paint, printed wallpaper, and decor my jaw dropped.
Easter is right around the corner, and although we may not be able to get together with friends and family outside of our household, it’s still good to celebrate if that’s what you normally do. Keeping traditions semi alive during a pandemic is important because it gives you something to look forward to, as I know for many of us these circumstances have cancelled quite a few plans.
With March here and how the weather has been playing out it seems as though we will most definitely be getting an early spring. I took a jaunt through Central Park last weekend and even noticed some of the trees starting to bud, and I even spotted a cherry blossom tree near Washington Square Park last Sunday. I know it’s so cliché, but I really do feel my best when wearing floral pieces. The print makes me feel put together and beautiful, the two things I look for when purchasing any piece. So as any lover of florals is doing right now, I’m dreaming of florals for my wardrobe.
It all started after I began watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix. The costume designer, Allyson Fanger, does such a wonderful job with the wardrobe in this show. I love every characters’ unique style, and I’m especially fond of when Grace wears dress shirts or shirt dresses and pops the collar. It’s such a simple detail, but it goes such a long way. Now whenever I wear a shirt with a collar I catch myself popping it. You look sharper and chic.
