I just started The Politician this week, and I would be lying if I said the clothes weren’t the main attraction (for me at least.) Think 60’s mod meets preppy cool meets femininity. It’s all Miu Miu, Chanel, Dior, and Gucci ladies, with hints of Marc Jacobs, Maje, and Zara.
Claire Parkinson and Lou Eyrich styled the show, and together they did an outstanding job. The overall goal was to achieve the opulence of Santa Barbara, and that each character would take on a persona of their own in regards to how they showed off the wealth, and Astrid’s was through dressing. She has bits of Cher Horowitz and Blair Waldorf in her.
Unlike the other characters on the show, Astrid’s bold style is superior. From a tweed two-piece set (that I actually own, it’s from Zara), to an iconic tennis look, Astrid will inspire you to elevate your classics and add touches of trends that she makes look un-tacky. You can’t forget the knee-high socks that she wears with many of her looks either. Astrid even pulls off a fanny pack which now has me imagining outfits wearing one; and let’s be real, when you think of fanny packs the last thought in your mind is preppy chic.
The fanny pack, très chic!
When the plot isn’t getting dark, the colors of the show from the wardrobe to the set are colorful and bright reminding me of Slim Aarons and his marvelous photographs of society’s finest. The styling is fabulous, what’s not to love?
