How 1920s Fashion Influences My Style Today

I love to look back on vintage fashion and take inspiration from it for my style today. In my opinion, the fashion was so much better back in the 1920s, 40s, 50s, and 60s- which is why I take so much inspiration from those eras! The 1920s was really a time for women in pushing out of the stereotype of what they should be doing or wearing, and becoming independent.

Women began to wear less restricting clothing like the corsets in the Victorian Era and started to wear looser fitting, more comfortable pieces. They also started to wear shorter dresses, and by that I mean below the knee, but not all the way to the floor like a maxi. Cloche hats (these have become my favorite this year), and headbands along with feather boas were worn fabulously by women going out at night. Long pearl necklaces and beaded evening gowns were popular during the time as well. I wish fashion was still like this! The women dressed fabulous, chic, and classy.

How do I wear the styles today? I find a ton of cloches on Amazon, and also sometimes spot them at Macy’s! I’ve always have a pair of pearls in my closet, whether they be a pair of earrings or a necklace. Winter coats had collars of fur, and of course my closet won’t ever see the day of not having fur in it(faux of course!) I’ve been leaning towards dresses that fall just below the knees(especially in the summer time) because of the comfortability.

Here are looks I grab inspiration from….

It’s no secret that The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite movies. The “Roaring 20s” or “The Jazz Age”, whichever you prefer to call it, the parties were lavish and fabulous, one can only dream of ever attending a party like that!
Here are some awe-inspiring photos…
